Mame Kurogouchi: Embrace Collection at Paris Fashion Week

Mame Kurogouchi made a strong statement at the start of Paris Fashion Week with her latest collection themed around the concept of “Embrace.” The Japanese designer, known as Mame, captivated the audience with a delicate and ethereal line of clothing that exuded elegance and innocence. Held at the historic University of Paris’ School of Pharmacy, the runway show was a dramatic debut for Mame on the international stage.

The collection itself was a reflection of Mame’s exploration of deep philosophical ideas, blending diverse cultural influences and time periods to redefine modern notions of beauty. The garments showcased classic Mame elements like satin, lace, and intricate floral details, all in a palette of refreshing green and white tones. Pieces included flowing dresses, tailored jackets, and modern sporty touches that added a contemporary feel to the collection as a whole.

One of the standout features of this season’s line was the innovative use of layered mesh fabric inspired by various elements such as crow protection and horticultural netting. This unique textile was creatively incorporated into tops, dresses, and even as a veil over entire looks. The second half of the show unveiled impeccably crafted silk garments, showcasing traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a modern twist. Notable pieces like a mint green spring coat and a draped jacquard blouson added to the collection’s dreamy aesthetic.

Mame Kurogouchi also introduced new accessories in collaboration with Tod’s, including a revamped PVC bag with fringe details and stylish pointed-toe pumps in black, navy, and white. This collection marked Mame’s significant growth as a designer, following the success of her previous showcase “At Tokyo” last year. Her commitment to Japanese craftsmanship and timeless design principles sets her apart in an industry filled with fleeting trends and fast fashion.

Looking ahead, Mame plans to launch a new initiative called Atelier Project in partnership with Taro Horiuchi, further solidifying her dedication to creating garments that transcend time and trends. Her introspective and artistic creations offer a sense of protection and growth, appealing to women who appreciate the subtleties of Japanese aesthetics. While the global reception of Mame’s collections remains to be seen, her latest showcase at Paris Fashion Week certainly hints at promising trends to come in the world of fashion.
