Maison Moschino Pays Tribute to The Sims with Capsule Collection

Introducing Lil Miquela, Noonoouri, and Gaïa, the new influential profiles taking the internet by storm. However, let us not forget the originators of the virtual world, the iconic avatars from The Sims. Maison Moschino is paying homage to these beloved digital personas with a unique capsule collection.

First created nearly two decades ago for PC, The Sims revolutionized the simulation video game genre by allowing players to bring their avatars to life. The game enables users to guide their virtual characters through various seasons and situations, both in their personal and professional lives. From its initial release to the mobile version launched in 2018, The Sims has garnered immense popularity, thanks to its customizable universe and broad appeal.

Given the game’s strong aesthetic and cultural ties to the 90’s and 2000’s, it comes as no surprise that Jeremy Scott, the Artistic Director of Maison Moschino since 2013, has embraced the code of this gaming sensation. The result is a remarkable collection of eight pieces, including hoodies, t-shirts, and dresses, all paying tribute to The Sims. To further promote this special capsule, Scott collaborated with Maxis, the creative studio behind the game under the ownership of Electronic Arts, to create virtual backgrounds. These backgrounds feature the collection’s models, including top model Stella Maxwell, depicted within The Sims’ distinct and characteristic in-game environments such as pools, campfires, villas, pubs, and nightclubs.

Speaking on the collaboration, Jeremy Scott expressed his excitement, saying, “I love the concept of being able to imagine, design, and bring to life a whole world of individuals through The Sims universe.” He further commented on how this concept aligns perfectly with his approach to every Moschino collection, which aims to create a fantastical realm of stories and extraordinary characters.

Emphasizing the themes of individuality, freedom of expression, and creativity, the collection will be officially launched during the annual Spring Party hosted by Jeremy Scott in Palm Springs. Following the event, the collection will be made available for purchase in Moschino stores and on the brand’s e-shop from April 13th onwards. This isn’t the first time Jeremy Scott has found inspiration in the world of gaming to craft a collection; two years ago, the visionary designer created a series of pieces influenced by the massively popular mobile game, Candy Crush.
