Maison Margiela Unveils Icons Collection

Maison Margiela, the renowned fashion house based in Paris and owned by Italy’s OTB group, has recently unveiled its newest collection, the Icons line. This collection is a reflection of the brand’s dedication to producing elegant and timeless essentials for both men and women. Led by the creative direction of John Galliano, who has been with the company for seven years, the classic looks have been reimagined in a subtle yet innovative way.

Customers can now purchase items from the Icons line on Maison Margiela’s e-commerce website and in its 31 stores worldwide. In addition to these locations, the brand has also set up a number of pop-up shops in major cities, including London, Paris, Tokyo, and Shanghai, for the months of November and December.

The concept behind the Icons line is to combine elements from Margiela’s previous collections, the Margiela 4 and 14, which aimed to establish a timeless wardrobe of high-end classics. This new line is the latest addition to John Galliano’s creative vision for the brand and follows a pyramid structure. The pieces in the Icons collection are genderless propositions that originated from the haute couture ateliers of the Artisanal collection, were then industrialized for ready-to-wear as part of the Co-Ed line, and have now been carefully selected and refined to fit into the Icons line.

These pieces will be available on a permanent basis and will be reviewed and adapted over time. The initial collection features 17 looks, including coats, trenches, dresses, jackets, suits, and knitwear. The items in this line are easily identifiable through specific details such as the red-threaded M on the buttons, sewn-up buttonholes, and typical trouser hooks.

In terms of pricing, the Icons collection includes a range of wardrobe basics, with prices ranging from 3,650 euros for the “décortiqué” trench to 1,750 euros for a mini bag, 520 euros for Tabi Mary-Jane pumps, 1,050 euros for a white denim jacket, and 490 euros for a pair of jeans. To promote the launch of Icons, Maison Margiela has released a short film directed by Olivier Dahan.

Overall, Maison Margiela’s Icons line exemplifies the brand’s dedication to creating classic and timeless pieces that effortlessly blend innovation and elegance. With John Galliano’s creative vision at the helm, this collection is destined to become a staple in the fashion industry and a must-have for fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
