Lyst Report on Most Searched Brands and Products – Q4 2021

The fashion search engine, Lyst, has released its report on the most searched brands and products online for the fourth quarter of 2021. Balenciaga continues to dominate as the most searched brand, thanks in part to its collaboration with The Simpsons. Gucci secures second place, and Prada makes history by breaking into the top three for the first time. The Italian luxury brand owes its success to the growing popularity of its pieces, many of which have become viral challenges on TikTok.

Other notable brands in the top 10 include Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Dior, Fendi, and Saint Laurent. Miu Miu also joins the ranking, securing the 20th position. Unfortunately, the passing of Virgil Abloh has impacted the rankings, and his brand Off-White drops out of the list despite its previous strong presence.

One significant trend that emerged this quarter is “gorpcore.” This trend focuses on clothing and accessories that draw inspiration from hiking and outdoor activities. Prada’s Re-Nylon bucket hats and jackets, Moncler’s puffer jackets, and Miu Miu and Stone Island’s balaclavas all reflect the appeal of this trend. Comfortable footwear also takes the spotlight, with Prada nylon mules, Ugg’s Tazz, Adidas’ Yeezy NSTL boots, and The North Face’s NSE Tent III slippers being popular choices for urban adventures.

In the “Women” category, the most searched article is Balenciaga’s Neo Classic Small bag, indicating the ongoing attraction for reissued iconic pieces. The creative collaboration between Balenciaga and Gucci also pays off, with their sequined logoed jackets ranking fourth among the most popular articles. For men, the influence of cinema plays a significant role in the rankings, with Gucci loafers, featured prominently in the film “House of Gucci,” claiming the top spot. Following closely behind is the Omega Seamaster Diver 300 watch inspired by the world of James Bond.

Overall, the Lyst Index report highlights the merging of fashion and entertainment, with collaborations, viral challenges, and movie references influencing consumer preferences. The gorpcore trend, emphasizing comfort and outdoor aesthetics, also proves to be a major driving force in the fashion industry.
