LVMH’s Recruitment Campaign and Groundbreaking Documentary

The luxury group is actively pursuing its recruitment campaign and is unveiling a groundbreaking documentary that focuses on the opportunities within its various houses. Alexandre Boquel, the Director of Excellence Trades at LVMH, acknowledges the surprising reality that even iconic brands like Loro Piana and Hôtel Cheval Blanc face challenges in finding skilled professionals, such as knitwear makers and skilled workers in the hospitality industry. This revelation has prompted LVMH to intensify its recruitment efforts, especially considering that the luxury goods market is projected to reach €380 billion by 2025. The group experienced a remarkable growth of 23% in the first quarter of 2022, further motivating them to accelerate their recruitment policy.

Currently, LVMH boasts 280 Excellence Trades, which encompass a pool of 80,000 talented individuals. However, there remains a pressing need for more staff members across all segments. Alexandre Boquel highlights that over 30 trades are currently facing recruitment shortages within LVMH. These include leather goods, sales, hotel, and restaurant trades, which are actively seeking new employees. Furthermore, LVMH recognizes the importance of securing successors in fields where talent is scarce, such as bootmaking, watchmaking, and polishing.

In addition to strengthening their existing activities to meet the growing demand, LVMH faces the challenge of maintaining continuity in crucial roles. They estimate that by 2024, approximately 30,000 positions will need to be filled within the group, both domestically and internationally. The group’s dedication to excellence trades has been evident since the signing of the “Worldwide Engagements for Excellence Trades” pact by various LVMH houses just a year ago. This pact aims to defend and promote luxury expertise within the industry.

To showcase their recruitment initiatives, the group has released a corporate film titled “Excellence Trades, the virtuous circle.” Directed by Juliette Nioré, the film aims to shed light on LVMH’s diverse awareness, recruitment, and training programs. It serves as a testament to the Institute of Excellence Trades, which was established eight years ago and has already trained more than 1,400 apprentices in fields like creation, craftsmanship, and customer experience.
