LVMH Receives Triple ‘A’ Rating from Carbon Disclosure Project

After making significant environmental announcements at COP15, luxury multinational LVMH has received a prestigious triple “A” rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project. This recognition showcases the company’s commitment to sustainability and its efforts in reducing its carbon footprint.

Hélène Valade, Director of Environmental Development at LVMH, emphasized the importance of regenerative luxury in preserving the planet. By borrowing less from nature and giving back more, LVMH aims to establish a harmonious relationship between nature and creativity. This approach involves abandoning the dominant mindset and instead forming alliances with ecosystems. Valade shared these insights in the latest issue of ULTIMZ Journal, titled “Luxe & Sustainability: Regenerative Conversation.”

LVMH, which includes renowned brands such as Dior, Chaumet, Guerlain, and Fendi, is now part of an elite group of 12 companies out of more than 15,000 to receive the triple “A” score from the Carbon Disclosure Project. This accolade recognizes LVMH’s transparency and performance in climate protection, forest conservation, and water management. The UK-based organization evaluates the environmental impact of large companies and assigns ratings from A to D based on criteria such as information completeness, ecological risk management, and environmental leadership.

Antoine Arnault, responsible for Image and Environment at LVMH, highlighted the company’s dedication to regenerative practices within its supply chain. Given LVMH’s strong reliance on biodiversity, the company is committed to integrating biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation throughout its operations.

LVMH has achieved this exceptional rating through its numerous projects undertaken throughout the year. Examples include efforts in energy efficiency in France, regenerative agriculture in Africa, sustainable consumption in Chinese establishments, and the implementation of the Nona Source circular initiative in the UK. The company’s LIFE 360 environmental strategy has been successfully implemented worldwide in 2022, and LVMH has every intention of continuing on this green trajectory. Despite achieving a growth of 20% in the first nine months of the year, the company remains committed to strengthening partnerships with organizations such as UNESCO and participating in forums like the TNFD to further enhance its sustainability initiatives.
