LVMH Promotes Diversity and Inclusion through Inclusion Index

LVMH, a luxury goods conglomerate, has been actively promoting diversity and inclusion through its observatory. The company aims to highlight and support the initiatives carried out by its houses in these areas because they believe that “people make the difference.”

To measure and stimulate efforts made by the group and its houses, LVMH created the Inclusion Index in March 2018. Initially designed to focus on gender representation, the Index has now expanded to include actions related to the LGBTI community. Currently, there are over 150 initiatives listed in the Index.

Each year, LVMH recognizes outstanding projects through the Inclusion Index Award. This year, seven initiatives were honored, with each project aligning with one of the seven Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) signed by the United Nations. These principles are aimed at promoting gender equality in companies.

One of the award-winning initiatives is the “Vignoble au Féminin” (Feminine Vineyard) operation, launched by Hennessy in 2013. This initiative focuses on showcasing the crucial role of women in the winegrowing industry. Another recognized program is “FUN.TECH. FUTURE” by Sephora in Poland, which supports young women from foster homes and foster families as they enter the job market.

In terms of LGBTI inclusion, LVMH acknowledged the “All LVMH Pride” community, which focuses on supporting LGBTQIA+ employees in the United States. Sephora USA also received recognition for its “Classes for Confidence” makeup courses aimed at transgender communities and individuals who do not conform to gender norms. Additionally, Louis Vuitton was rewarded for its efforts in providing health insurance to the partners of their LGBTI employees in South Asia, even in countries where same-sex unions are not yet legally recognized.

Overall, LVMH and its houses are committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality within their organization. They believe that these initiatives not only benefit their employees but also contribute to creating a more inclusive society.
