LVMH Prize Unveils Diverse Group of Finalists

The LVMH Prize has recently unveiled its list of eight finalists, showcasing a diverse and talented group of designers hailing from different parts of the world. This year’s selection includes a mix of gender-neutral labels, womenswear, and menswear specialists, making it the most varied lineup to date. Among the finalists is the first Israeli designer to make it to this stage, highlighting the global reach of the competition.

The eight brands selected represent a wide range of backgrounds, with designers based in major fashion capitals such as London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Lagos, and Johannesburg. These finalists have been through a rigorous selection process, with the first round whittling down the competition to 20 semi-finalists. Delphine Arnault, who heads the judging panel, praised the exceptional quality and diversity of this year’s collections, noting a growing emphasis on environmental and sustainable themes.

Notable finalists include Japanese designer Kunihiko Moriniga of Anrealage, known for his innovative use of technology in womenswear. The lineup also features designers like Hed Mayner, Spencer Phipps, Kenneth Izedonmwen, and Bode, each contributing their unique perspective to the fashion industry.

British talents Bethany Williams and Stefan Cooke, graduates of renowned design schools, bring socially and environmentally sustainable approaches to their work. South African designer Thebe Magugu, winner of the International Fashion Showcase, completes the impressive roster of finalists.

The winner of the LVMH Prize will receive a significant cash prize and personalized support from LVMH for a year. Additionally, three young fashion school graduates will be recognized with financial rewards and internship opportunities within the luxury group. The competition is still open for applications, with a deadline in mid-May.

The grand finale of the LVMH Prize will take place in June at the prestigious Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, where the winner will be selected by a panel of esteemed judges. Keep an eye out to see which of these emerging designers will make their mark on the fashion industry.
