LVMH Prize Set to Take Place in Paris on June 2

The highly anticipated LVMH Prize, known as one of the most prestigious awards in the fashion industry, is finally set to take place on June 2 in Paris. After facing multiple delays in previous years due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the ninth edition of this renowned competition for emerging fashion designers will reveal its winners at the iconic Louis Vuitton Foundation.

The jury for the LVMH Prize, which boasts a lineup of renowned names including Jonathan Anderson, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Nicolas Ghesquière, Kim Jones, and Stella McCartney, will welcome two new additions this year. Nigo, the Creative Director of Kenzo, and Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Creative Director of Fendi’s menswear and women’s accessories collections, have joined the panel. With such a diverse group of industry leaders coming together, the task of selecting the most promising talents from the fashion world is sure to be a stimulating and exciting process.

In a press release, LVMH revealed that just like last year, the public will once again have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look and follow the highlights of the final on social media. This inclusive approach allows fashion enthusiasts from all corners of the globe to experience the sheer excitement and creative energy that permeate the event.

The eight finalists for the 2022 LVMH Prize comprise a mix of established names and emerging talents. British designer Charlotte Knowles collaborates with her Canadian colleague Alexander Arsenault for their brand Knwls. Another British designer, Steven Stokey Daley, presents his brand S.S. Daley. Irish designer Róisín Pierce showcases her unique creations. Ineyie Tokyo James, an Anglo-Nigerian designer with the Tokyo James label, and Idris Balogun, with the Winnie New York label, bring their distinct aesthetics to the competition. US designer Eli Russell Linnetz presents Erl, while South Korean designer Ashlynn Park presents her brand Ashlyn. Lastly, Japanese designer Ryunosuke Okazaki showcases his brand Ryunosuke Okazaki. The range of talent on display ensures a diverse and dynamic competition.

On June 2, the esteemed jury will come together to meticulously evaluate and select the most talented designer among these remarkably gifted individuals. In addition to the main prize, the prestigious Karl Lagerfeld Prize will also be awarded to recognize outstanding creativity and innovation.

The LVMH Prize serves as an extraordinary platform for emerging designers, providing them with unparalleled exposure and support from industry leaders.
