LVMH Partners with Canopy for Sustainable Fashion

LVMH, the multinational luxury goods conglomerate, is taking further steps towards sustainability through a partnership with environmental nonprofit organization Canopy. The collaboration, announced during European Green Week, is centered around supporting two of Canopy’s initiatives: ‘Pack4Good’ and ‘CanopyStyle’.

‘Pack4Good’ focuses on finding sustainable packaging solutions, while ‘CanopyStyle’ aims to transform the fashion industry’s supply chains to protect forests and promote sustainable alternatives. By joining forces with Canopy, LVMH is committed to ensuring that its supply chains for paper, packaging, and fabrics are free from fiber sourced from ancient and endangered forests by the end of 2022.

In addition to these specific goals, LVMH has also pledged to influence its supply chains to safeguard the world’s remaining forests, protect endangered species habitats, and respect the rights and consent of communities and Indigenous peoples. These commitments are in line with LVMH’s broader environmental program, LIFE 360, which recognizes the importance of ancient forests in preserving biodiversity and mitigating climate change.

As part of the partnership, LVMH and its luxury brands will not only support Canopy’s existing initiatives but also contribute to the development of circular economy alternatives and innovative designs. This means exploring game-changing innovations and incorporating smart design principles to ensure sustainability throughout the entire lifecycle of their products.

Hélène Valade, LVMH’s Environment Development Group Director, reiterated the company’s dedication to environmental performance and sustainability. She expressed her satisfaction with becoming a partner of CanopyStyle and Pack4Good, highlighting that it is an essential step towards maintaining high environmental standards in LVMH’s supply chain and products.

LVMH has a longstanding commitment to environmental conservation and has been actively involved in initiatives such as the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere program. Through partnerships like the ‘Guerlain for Bees Conservation Program’ and the Moët Hennessy ‘Living Soils’ program, LVMH continues to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable practices across various sectors.

By collaborating with Canopy, LVMH reinforces its commitment to sustainability and demonstrates its proactive approach to environmental responsibilities within the fashion industry. Together, they aim to drive positive change and ensure a more sustainable future for the fashion and luxury sectors.
