LVMH Institute of Excellence: Training Program for Luxury Products

The LVMH Group recently celebrated the achievements of its 2019 graduates at an official ceremony, where they also shared updates on their innovative training program. Established in 2014, the LVMH Institute of Excellence has already provided training to over 800 students in various fields related to the craftsmanship, creation, and sale of luxury products. Through a combination of the Group’s resources, the expertise of its Houses, and renowned educational institutions, the program has seen remarkable success. The current class of 300 students is ten times larger than the initial intake, highlighting the program’s growth.

The LVMH Institute of Excellence aligns with the Group’s social responsibility ethos, recognizing skills and enhancing knowledge and talent. In 2019, the program boasted an impressive 97% diploma success rate and a 61% employment rate within LVMH or with their external partners. These achievements have accomplished the program’s goal of enhancing the employability of apprentices regardless of their initial qualifications while preserving the cherished know-how of the Group’s Houses.

Chantal Gaemperle, Director of Human Resources and Strategies at LVMH, shared that the IME is embarking on a new chapter by welcoming LVMH group employees for continuing education, further showcasing the program’s commitment to developing talent within the organization.

The training programs offered by the LVMH Institute of Excellence are in high demand internationally, reflecting the global appetite for luxury goods and services. Besides France, Switzerland, and Italy, Spain has now joined the roster of countries hosting training programs. This year, a new program titled “Discovering Leatherwork with the Compagnons du Devoir et du Tour de France” will be launched in partnership with Loewe, the Madrid-based House, as LVMH’s Fashion and Leather Goods segment continues to experience organic sales growth of 18% in the first half of 2019.

With the addition of seven new programs, the Institute of Excellence will offer a total of 28 training courses. These courses will cover a range of disciplines, including Art and Science of Makeup Formulation, Retail Excellence, Sales Advisor, and Malletier at Maison Louis Vuitton’s Asnières workshops in France. Additionally, three new programs will be introduced in Italy.

Each year, the Institute of Excellence transmits expertise in more than 21 trades, spanning fashion (Knitwear, Silk, Leather Goods, Shoes, etc.), Beauty, Jewelry, Wine, Culinary Arts, Customer Experience, Design, and more. These programs are made possible through partnerships with 35 luxury brands.
