LVMH Expands with LVMH Métiers d’Art Japan

LVMH, the luxury group led by Bernard Arnault, is further expanding its scope with the creation of LVMH Métiers d’Art Japan. This new structure is dedicated to the development of Japanese savoir-faire for luxury houses, with the objective of enhancing and integrating Japanese craftsmanship.

The Métiers d’Art program, which was launched by LVMH in 2015, focuses on preserving and highlighting artisanal industries around the world. Japan, renowned for its craftsmanship and ancestral high-quality savoir-faire, has now joined the list of member countries for this program.

Heading this new structure is Emina Morioka, a former director of strategy for the LVMH group. With her dual Japanese and French culture, she is expected to make significant contributions to the successful development of LVMH Métiers d’Art in Japan.

Jean-Baptiste Voisin, President of LVMH Métiers d’Art and Director of Group Strategy, expresses his fascination with Japan and its savoir-faire, which has been passed down by masters from generation to generation. He emphasizes the importance of preserving and promoting these savoir-faire while providing them with better access to major luxury houses, many of which are located in Europe. Voisin believes that this initiative strengthens the ties that began to form in the mid-19th century when the great luxury houses came into existence and when Emperor Meiji opened Japan to the world.

LVMH Métiers d’Art aims to create a unique profession worldwide. It serves as a division established by the luxury giant to protect and develop access to raw materials and excellent know-how for its fashion houses. The group follows, advises, and supports its best suppliers with the goal of ultimately creating a profession that is unparalleled in the industry.

LVMH is already involved in various industries, including leather, exotic skins, and metalwork, with a presence in different regions around the world. With its new Japanese structure, the group expects a significant increase in turnover in the coming years.
