LVMH Appoints Matteo de Rosa as New Managing Director of Métiers d’Art Division

LVMH, the world-renowned luxury group, has recently announced the appointment of Matteo de Rosa as the new managing director of its Métiers d’Art division. With an extensive background in the luxury industry, De Rosa has worked in various capacities across Europe, China, and Australia, making him a valuable addition to the team.

De Rosa will be taking over from Daniel Peterlin, who has played a pivotal role in the development of the Métiers d’Art division since its establishment in 2015. Under Peterlin’s guidance, the division has evolved into a vital platform for sourcing top-quality raw materials and promoting exclusive craftsmanship within the luxury group. Peterlin will be stepping down from his position in mid-December, leaving behind a remarkable legacy.

A graduate of Milan’s prestigious Bocconi University, Matteo de Rosa has held significant positions in the fashion industry throughout his career. Prior to joining LVMH, he served as the president of Dries Van Noten, a Belgian haute couture label that was acquired by Spanish group Puig in 2018. De Rosa’s tenure at the company coincided with the challenging period of the pandemic. Previous to that, he spent nearly six years at Ports 1961, a Chinese-Canadian ready-to-wear brand, where he eventually rose to the position of managing director. He has also held key roles at the Kennedy Luxury Group in Australia, serving as the head of Fashion & Lifestyle and commercial director. In the early stages of his career, De Rosa even founded his own leather goods label, Sartie.

The establishment of LVMH Métiers d’Art was a strategic move by the luxury group to ensure that its fashion brands have access to top-quality raw materials and expertise. This division plays a crucial role in the supply chain for premium materials such as leather, exotic skins, precious metals, and silk. Additionally, it holds shares in a dozen manufacturers worldwide.

Jean-Baptiste Voisin, the head of strategy at LVMH and president of LVMH Métiers d’Art, expressed his enthusiasm for De Rosa’s appointment. Voisin believes that De Rosa’s extensive industry knowledge and experience will greatly benefit the division and its partners. He emphasized the importance of continuous innovation in order to meet the ever-changing demands of LVMH’s fashion brands and clients, both within and outside the group.

Under the leadership of Matteo de Rosa, LVMH Métiers d’Art is poised for a new era of growth and success. The division remains dedicated to supporting the luxury group’s fashion labels and maintaining their prominent position in the industry.
