LVMH Appoints Hélène Valade as Head of Environmental Activities

LVMH, the renowned luxury group known for its prestigious brands, has recently made a significant move by appointing Hélène Valade as the head of its environmental activities. This role holds immense importance within the company, as LVMH has been actively sharing its global vision and progress regarding environmental sustainability since the end of 2019.

Hélène Valade brings exceptional expertise in Sustainable Development to her new position. She is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies of Paris and has previously served as the Director of the Policy Department at IFOP. In 2005, Valade joined Lyonnaise des Eaux as the Director of Sustainable Development, and later became the Vice President of Sustainable Development for the SUEZ group in 2014.

Aside from her responsibilities at LVMH, Valade also holds the position of President of the Observatory for Corporate Social Responsibility and serves as a board member of ADEME. Her extensive experience and knowledge in sustainable development make her an ideal fit for her new role. Valade will be taking over from Sylvie Benard, who has diligently served as the Director of Environment at LVMH for the past 26 years.

Valade will report directly to Antoine Arnault, a member of the Board of Directors of LVMH. Arnault is also in charge of the Communication & Image department, which will now oversee the Environment department. In expressing his support for Valade’s appointment, Arnault emphasized the critical importance of environmental responsibility for the Group. He stated, “The respect for the environment is a crucial topic for the Group, as its various dimensions represent strategic challenges for all of our sectors in the coming years.” Arnault also highlighted Valade’s key role in improving environmental performance, implementing sustainable standards in supply chains, enhancing efficiency indicators, and reducing CO2 emissions.

LVMH’s decision to appoint Hélène Valade underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing environmental sustainability. With Valade’s expertise and experience in sustainable development, she will be instrumental in driving the Group’s environmental initiatives forward and shaping its future strategies.
