LVMH Announces Dedicated Space for the Métiers d’Excellence

During the third edition of its event “SHOW ME Paris,” the world’s leading luxury group, LVMH, announced an ambitious project centered around the development and transmission of savoir-faire, a critical topic for the sector. The company plans to establish a dedicated space in Paris for the Métiers d’Excellence, which will house 75 Maisons and hundreds of skills and gestures that need to be preserved. With its growth rate of +14% since the beginning of the year, LVMH is geared up to open this space on Rue Bayard in Paris’ 8th arrondissement. The building aims to represent the various expertise within the group’s Maisons, serving as a hub for “training, exchange, and creativity for its internal talents.” In addition, the space will also include a café, meeting areas, a library, and workshops that will be accessible to the public.

Chantal Gaemperle, the HR & Synergies Director at LVMH, emphasizes the group’s pioneering efforts in recognizing and promoting savoir-faire professions. Their Institut des Métiers d’Excellence, established almost a decade ago, has positioned LVMH as one of the largest ecosystems for transmitting savoir-faire worldwide. With this new physical space, the company aims to further expand its commitment to lifelong learning and building career paths for its employees.

Developing skills and gestures is a vital aspect of the luxury industry, and LVMH is prioritizing training and recruitment to meet the increasing demand for luxury products and services. From leathercraft to couture and sales, the group offers around 360 training programs globally for students, professionals in career transition, and its own employees. Notably, the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence has experienced a surge in the number of apprentices for the 2023 intake, with over 700 apprentices aged 15 to 60. Since its launch in 2014, the program has achieved an impressive 88% success rate in obtaining diplomas in France, with 78% of participants finding employment within the industry or within LVMH.

Overall, LVMH’s commitment to the development and transmission of savoir-faire through this dedicated space for the Métiers d’Excellence demonstrates the company’s dedication to preserving traditional craftsmanship and ensuring its continuity in the luxury sector.
