LVMH and Central Saint Martins Collaborate on Creative Expedition Promoting Sustainable Creation

During the Festival of Fashion, Photography, and Fashion Accessories in Hyères, Villa Noailles becomes the center of attention as the competing stylists for the Grand Jury Prize present their work. Among the audience are ten talented individuals selected by LVMH, including young designers from the Group’s Houses as well as students from the renowned Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design. This unique gathering serves as an opportunity for the participants to explore and share ideas about sustainable creation, in line with LVMH’s partnership with Central Saint Martins through their Maison 0 program.

According to Alexandre Capelli, Head of Environment at LVMH, the Maison 0 program recognizes the importance of environmental considerations and integrates them into daily teaching and collaboration between the Houses and the students. The Creative Expedition, organized as part of the Festival, exemplifies this commitment. Joint efforts between LVMH and Central Saint Martins aim to explore new ecological innovations and inspire young designers to incorporate sustainability into their work.

One of the participants, Benjamin Benmoyal, a final year BA Fashion Design student, has been recognized by LVMH for his upcycling approach. He creates unique weavings using audio and VHS tapes, combined with end-of-stock threads. Capelli commends Benmoyal’s work, highlighting the combination of durability, craftsmanship, and creativity in his collections.

Before presenting his final year collection in London, Benmoyal joined the Creative Expedition in the French Riviera. The expedition included various activities such as visits to the Perfume Fountains of Grasse and Château de la Colle Noire, as well as a fragrance creation workshop with Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. This interdisciplinary approach to fashion, photography, and perfumery aims to foster creativity and collaboration among the participants, as Chantal Gaemperle, Director of Human Resources and Synergies at LVMH, emphasizes.

Gaemperle believes that bringing together different creative worlds provides a unique opportunity for discovery and exchange of ideas. The Creative Expedition serves as a platform for sharing, learning, and engaging with diverse talents. LVMH’s longstanding partnership with the Hyères Festival, combined with their collaboration with a top creative school, reflects the Group’s values and commitments.

Benmoyal expresses his appreciation for the opportunity to connect with designers from different backgrounds, despite their varying experiences and perspectives. He believes that, ultimately, they all share a common language when it comes to design.

Overall, the Creative Expedition organized by LVMH and Central Saint Martins exemplifies their dedication to sustainable creation and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. By bringing together talent from different fields and backgrounds, they seek to push the boundaries of creativity and contribute to a more environmentally conscious fashion industry.
