Luxury Shoemaker Crockett & Jones Closing Current Location on Jermyn Street

Luxury shoemaker Crockett & Jones will be saying goodbye to its current location on Jermyn Street in London as its neighboring retailer, Turnbull & Asser, plans to expand into the space. Crockett & Jones’ store at 69 Jermyn Street, which has been serving customers since 1997, will officially close its doors on March 31. However, the brand will continue to have a presence on Jermyn Street with its larger flagship store at 92 Jermyn Street, which opened in 2011.

Although disappointed about leaving the current location, James Fox, the marketing director of Crockett & Jones, revealed that the company is on the verge of securing a new, even larger store near Jermyn Street. He also emphasized that the transition with Turnbull & Asser has been amicable, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity while reassuring employees that they will be offered new roles within the company.

Dating back to 1879, Crockett & Jones has established itself as one of Britain’s top heritage shoemakers. With stores in Knightsbridge, New York, Paris, and Brussels, the brand has a global presence. In 2017, it was further recognized for its excellence when it was granted a royal warrant by the Prince of Wales, now King Charles. This prestigious recognition solidifies Crockett & Jones’ status as a trusted provider of luxury footwear. Just like Crockett & Jones, Turnbull & Asser, founded in 1885, holds a royal warrant from the Prince, having received the first one in 1980. Both brands have had the privilege of dressing various James Bond actors, with Crockett & Jones shoes adorning the feet of Daniel Craig in the films Skyfall and Spectre, and Turnbull & Asser shirts worn by Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.

The Jermyn Street area is renowned for its rich heritage in menswear, making it the perfect location for luxury brands like Crockett & Jones and Turnbull & Asser. Despite the closure of the 69 Jermyn Street store, customers can still rely on Crockett & Jones’ larger flagship store to fulfill their discerning taste and fashion needs. Turnbull & Asser’s decision to expand into the space not only showcases the brand’s ambition but also its commitment to meeting the demands of its clientele. This transition serves as a reminder of the changing nature of luxury retail, emphasizing the importance for brands to adapt and explore new opportunities.
