Digital twins of objects, clothing, and avatars are another noteworthy application of NFTs in the luxury industry. These digital replicas allow items to be showcased both in reality and within a metaverse, offering new avenues for self-expression. Avatars can digitally integrate these items into their identity, such as wearing them as a profile picture. Virtual clothing can also play a role in optimizing commerce and promoting sustainable choices by helping customers make informed decisions and avoiding impulse purchases.

Reviving historical artifacts and clothing is another exciting aspect of NFTs. For example, owning holograms of iconic runway shows or sketches from mid-century designers as NFTs can provide a bridge between the past and the digital future.

Fantasy and creativity thrive in the digital realm, and NFTs give luxury brands the opportunity to create products that are impossible in the physical world. This includes micro-targeting specific audiences, such as gamers, and combining different forms of art and fashion in novel ways.

In terms of access and loyalty, NFTs have the potential to act as a community and loyalty generator. Collectors can be offered exclusive content, products, and in-person or virtual events, fostering a sense of belonging and engagement.

Looking towards the future, Karinna Nobbs believes that the concept of exclusivity should be replaced with community in the metaverse. While the physical world relies on exclusivity, the digital realm allows for a more democratic environment where anyone can feel like a VIP. However, NFTs can still be used to encourage and reward loyalty, particularly in a context where consumer loyalty tends to diminish with age.
