Luxury Men’s Shoe Label John Lobb Opens Largest Store in Manhattan

Luxury men’s shoe label John Lobb, owned by Hermès, has recently opened its largest store in Manhattan, located on Madison Avenue. This move is seen as a strategic decision by the brand to attract more foot traffic from the luxury strip of 57th Street. With the global pandemic reshaping luxury retail in the area, securing a prime location on Madison Avenue has become crucial for John Lobb, according to CEO Philippe Gonzalez.

The new concept store, designed by ciguë architecture firm, features a unique ‘capsule’ design inspired by the space age and incorporates elements from Uruguayan artist Gonzalo Fonseca. This design concept aims to immerse customers in the world of John Lobb. Exclusive to the New York store are new ready-to-wear styles, along with bespoke services and a care and repair concierge service. One of the standout features of the store is an in-store cobbler who takes measurements and crafts handmade bespoke shoes in the brand’s atelier in Paris.

This store opening in New York is just the beginning of John Lobb’s expansion plans. In 2024, the brand intends to relocate and renovate its flagship store in Tokyo, followed by the opening of a new location in Kyoto. As the brand approaches its 50th anniversary in 2026, it remains committed to offering both bespoke services and its ready-to-wear collection through its global retail network.
