Luxury Fashion Houses Embrace Collaborations with Streetwear Brands

In a groundbreaking move to defy conventional fashion norms, luxury fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, Moncler, and Missoni are embracing collaborations with streetwear brands in 2017. This innovative partnership seeks to merge the realms of luxury and streetwear, resulting in remarkable and distinctive collections.

Louis Vuitton recently revealed its collaboration with Fragment, a renowned Japanese streetwear brand. Together, they have created a pre-collection for the upcoming fall season, characterized by its monochromatic color scheme. Fragment, founded by hip-hop DJ Hiroshi Fujiwara, has designed cotton bandanas and a travel bag in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. These exclusive creations are currently available only at the LV boutique in Saint-Germain-des-Prés until May 31, 2017. Prices range from €200 to €2,250.

This collaboration with Fragment marks the second time this year that Louis Vuitton has partnered with a streetwear brand. Earlier this year, the French fashion house surprised its followers by teaming up with Supreme, resulting in an unprecedented collection that includes backpacks, tote bags, blankets, and even a skateboard trunk. The Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection will be available for purchase starting July 2017.

Following in Louis Vuitton’s pioneering footsteps, Moncler has also embraced streetwear collaborations. The brand has recently announced its partnership with Off-White, another prominent label based in Milan. The two brands have reimagined Moncler’s iconic down jackets, building on the success of their first autumn-winter collection in 2016. The latest Moncler x Off-White collection is now on sale in Moncler stores.

Missoni, the esteemed Italian fashion house, has also joined this movement by collaborating with Pigalle, a brand renowned for its fusion of tradition and sportswear. The Missoni x Pigalle collection features bombers, t-shirts, and various accessories, and can be purchased at Colette in Paris and Dover Street Market in Tokyo.

The luxury fashion industry’s increasing interest in streetwear collaborations signifies a desire to create something fresh and unexpected. By combining high-end luxury with the edginess of streetwear, these collaborations are captivating a broader audience and challenging the established norms in the fashion world. As this trend continues to thrive, we can anticipate seeing more exciting partnerships between luxury fashion houses and streetwear brands in the future.
