Luxury Fashion Houses Chanel and Louis Vuitton Unveil Winter Sports Collections

Luxury fashion houses Chanel and Louis Vuitton are preparing for the upcoming winter season by unveiling their latest winter sports collections. Chanel’s Coco Neige line, which is focused on mountain activities and after-ski leisure, has selected Lily-Rose Depp as its brand ambassador. Meanwhile, Louis Vuitton has introduced its modern interpretation of an Alpine wardrobe with the LV Ski line. These brands are aiming to cater to the needs of fashion-forward winter sports enthusiasts who want to remain stylish both on and off the slopes.

Chanel initially launched two complete lines in 2018, Coco Neige and Coco Plage, dedicated to mountain and beach attire, respectively. By expanding their offerings, the luxury label is able to further segment their range and strengthen their presence in the market. The new Coco Neige 2023-24 collection, designed by Virginie Viard, features a total of 35 looks. The collection showcases sporty performance outfits, such as parkas and sleeveless jackets made from high-tech satin, as well as jumpsuits, turtleneck sweaters, tops, and trousers made of stretch jersey coated and lined with fleece. Moreover, the collection includes après-ski looks with an urban vibe, featuring jeans, a little black dress, cardigans, leather and shearling skirts, and cashmere loungewear sets. To complete the collection, accessories such as handbags, boots, booties, mittens, and hats are also offered.

Viard drew inspiration from the world of figure skating, incorporating leggings and skintight bodysuits adorned with rhinestones reminiscent of a figure skater’s dazzling dress. Chanel selected Lily-Rose Depp for their ad campaign, as her sulky pout perfectly embodies the aesthetic of a figure skater. The campaign showcases Depp in a dark and chilly skating arena after her training session, with Swedish photographer Mikael Jansson capturing the captivating images.

Louis Vuitton’s LV Ski collection also exudes a techno-chic style. The luxury label made its debut in mountain sports apparel in 2021 and has now launched a functional and dynamic collection with sophisticated performance details. The collection features down jackets, parkas, ski trousers, shell jackets, fleece tops, quilted jumpsuits, sweaters, and cardigans. The color palette is limited to ice blue, black, white, and deep red, while the outfits are enhanced by abstract graphic patterns and the brand’s iconic monogram. Complementing the collection are accessories like handbags, bum bags, backpacks, fur-lined booties, snow boots, cable-knit socks, skiing goggles, sunglasses, hats, scarves, headbands, skis, and a snowboard.

Both Chanel and Louis Vuitton have fully embraced the winter sports market, offering stylish and functional options for enthusiasts who want to look their best while participating in winter activities. Through their new collections, these luxury labels continue to showcase their expertise and commitment to innovation, solidifying their position in the fashion industry.
