Luxury Eyewear Conglomerate Kering Eyewear Acquires Danish Brand Lindberg

Luxury eyewear conglomerate Kering Eyewear has recently announced its acquisition of Danish eyewear brand Lindberg. This deal, set to be finalized in the second half of 2021 pending approval from antitrust authorities, will see Kering Eyewear acquire a 100% stake in Lindberg.

Lindberg, originally founded in Denmark in 1969 as an optician shop by Poul-Jørn Lindberg, has expanded under the leadership of his son Henrik into a multinational corporation with a strong global presence. With over 750 employees across more than 100 countries, Lindberg is renowned for its high-end titanium frames, which are celebrated for their sophisticated design and innovative technology. Notably, Lindberg’s frames are screwless and hypo-allergenic, and customers have the option to customize them with a wide range of colors and materials, including titanium, acetate, wood, and precious metals. The brand has received an astonishing 106 design awards for its exceptional eyewear.

Roberto Vedovotto, president and CEO of Kering Eyewear, expressed his admiration for the Lindberg brand and its accomplishments. He believes that Lindberg’s luxury eyewear perfectly complements Kering Eyewear’s existing portfolio. Henrik Lindberg, founder and CEO of Lindberg, shared his satisfaction with the partnership, stating that both companies share a common philosophy of elevating eyewear design to new heights. He expressed confidence in Kering Eyewear’s leadership under Roberto Vedovotto, backed by the values and high standards of the Kering Group, and believes that Lindberg will flourish while maintaining its unique identity.

This acquisition is a significant step in Kering Eyewear’s expansion strategy. In a short period of time, Kering Eyewear has become one of the key players in the eyewear industry, generating a wholesale revenue of approximately €600 million in 2019. The company’s impressive portfolio already includes prestigious luxury brands like Gucci, Cartier, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga. The addition of Lindberg further strengthens Kering Eyewear’s position in the market and enhances its offering to consumers.

With the completion of the acquisition and the integration of Lindberg into Kering Eyewear’s portfolio, both companies can look forward to new opportunities and growth potential. With Kering Eyewear’s resources and expertise, combined with Lindberg’s reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and design, the partnership is poised for a bright future. Eyewear enthusiasts worldwide can anticipate more innovative and luxurious options as a result of this collaboration.
