Luxury e-commerce platform Mytheresa partners with DHL for GoGreen Plus service

Luxury e-commerce platform Mytheresa has joined forces with global express delivery leader DHL to launch the GoGreen Plus service, a strategic partnership aimed at reducing carbon emissions in international shipments. Over the next five years, Mytheresa plans to invest several million euros into the program, making it the largest commitment to the GoGreen Plus service by a DHL Express customer in Europe.

The primary focus of the GoGreen Plus service is to reduce carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions by utilizing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) instead of traditional jet fuel. By partnering with DHL, Mytheresa estimates that it will be able to decrease over 27,000 tons of CO2e emissions associated with its international shipments throughout the duration of the collaboration.

Sebastian Dietzmann, Mytheresa’s COO, expressed his excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the company’s dedication to offering a more sustainable shopping experience to its luxury customers. He stated, “Based on this unique long-term agreement with DHL Express on the use of SAF, we will be able to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions per order shipped.”

DHL’s GoGreen Plus service was introduced last year and relies on collaborations with key suppliers such as bp, Neste, and World Energy, which produce SAF from alternative raw materials with a sustainable energy profile. The initiative is in line with DHL Group’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as 90% of the company’s carbon footprint is attributed to its air network.

John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, commended Mytheresa for its commitment to sustainability. He stated, “Mytheresa is committed to working with us to make international express transportation more sustainable.” Pearson also highlighted the significance of Mytheresa being the first and largest e-commerce platform in Germany to invest in SAF for international express deliveries.

In addition to the partnership with DHL, Mytheresa recently opened a new distribution center at Germany’s Halle/Leipzig Airport with the support of DHL. As a leading global luxury e-commerce platform, Mytheresa currently serves customers in over 130 countries.
