LuisaViaRoma appoints Alessandra Rossi as CEO

LuisaViaRoma, the prestigious luxury retailer headquartered in Florence, is embarking on a new chapter with the appointment of Alessandra Rossi as its new CEO. Founder Andrea Panconesi has sold 40% of his shares to Italian investment fund Style Capital, signaling Panconesi’s transition away from the operational aspects of the business. Panconesi, however, will remain as the company’s president and retain a 60% ownership stake.

Alessandra Rossi brings a wealth of experience to her new role at LuisaViaRoma. She kick-started her career at Diesel denim brand, overseeing the supply chain after completing her studies in engineering and management. In 2001, Rossi made a move into the luxury industry by taking on the role of managing human resources and organization at renowned Italian jeweler Bulgari. Subsequently, in 2003, she joined online fashion retailer Yoox as the operations manager and steadily climbed the ranks, ultimately becoming the managing director of yoox.com in 2014.

Following a short stint as a consultant in London, Rossi returned to Yoox, which had merged with Net-A-Porter to form YNAP. In 2017, she joined the group as the head of its “off-season” division, which focuses on offering previous season’s collections at discounted prices. In 2019, Rossi assumed the role of head of the digital department at showroom and services platform Tomorrow.

In response to Rossi’s appointment, Style Capital CEO Roberta Benaglia expressed her enthusiasm for fortifying the company’s structure in preparation for a potential listing in the future. Benaglia also announced that Style Capital, along with other families, has successfully invested €130 million into LuisaViaRoma through a capital increase. Moreover, a new seven-person board of directors has been established, including president Andrea Panconesi, CEO Alessandra Rossi, Roberta Benaglia, Filippo Cavalli, Massimiliano Benedetti, Gianluca Perrelli, and Alfredo Bartolini.

The appointment of Alessandra Rossi as CEO marks a new era for LuisaViaRoma. Given her extensive experience in the luxury and e-commerce sectors, Rossi is well-equipped to steer the company towards future success. The injection of capital from Style Capital and the establishment of a new board of directors signify a commitment to continued growth and advancement. As the renowned luxury retailer continues to evolve, all eyes will be on LuisaViaRoma under its new leadership.
