Louis Vuitton’s Time Capsule Exhibition

Starting on May 18, luxury brand Louis Vuitton will be showcasing its traveling exhibition, “Time Capsule,” at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles. The exhibition, divided into six parts, aims to take visitors on a journey through time, allowing them to experience the history and evolution of the Louis Vuitton brand. The exhibition will commence with a private event on May 17, followed by free admission for visitors from May 18 to June 10, 2018.

CEO of Louis Vuitton, Michael Burke, expressed his intention to present the brand’s story in a unique way through the Time Capsule exhibition. While Louis Vuitton is often associated with its iconic trunks and 19th-century heritage, Burke wants to emphasize the brand’s modernity and its role as a leader in the luxury industry.

The exhibition showcases 160 years of Louis Vuitton’s most significant and innovative creations. Through a carefully curated selection of historical pieces and contemporary designs, visitors can gain insight into the brand’s craftsmanship and origins. The exhibition also highlights Louis Vuitton’s adaptability to different modes of transportation, such as trains, boats, cars, and planes, as well as the brand’s commitment to meeting the needs of travelers through special commissions.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors can explore the evolution of Louis Vuitton from its inception in 1854 to the present day. The chance to see rare and iconic objects from the brand’s archives adds to the allure of the exhibition.

Organized in chronological order, the exhibition is divided into six parts, each representing a different theme: “The Keys to the Codes,” “Voyages Around the World,” “Elegance in Motion,” “Icons of the House,” “The Magic Trunk,” and “The Artisans’ Room.” By following this structure, visitors can fully engage with the various aspects of Louis Vuitton’s history and creations.

This is not the first time Louis Vuitton has brought a temporary exhibition to Los Angeles. The city previously hosted “Louis Vuitton Series 2,” which explored the origins of Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring 2015 collection. Some elements from this previous exhibition have been incorporated into “Time Capsule,” particularly in the “Magic Trunk” room, where light and holography effects highlight the evolution of Louis Vuitton’s iconic trunk.

“Time Capsule” has already made appearances in major cities like Hong Kong in 2017 and most recently in Madrid, where it will remain until May 15, 2018. The exhibition’s arrival in Los Angeles presents an exciting opportunity for local enthusiasts and visitors to experience the rich history and modernity of the Louis Vuitton brand.
