Louis Vuitton’s Spectacular Cruise Show at TWA Flight Center

Louis Vuitton’s highly anticipated cruise show is gearing up to be a truly spectacular event, as it will be held in the iconic TWA Flight Center at New York’s JFK Airport. This choice of venue showcases the French luxury brand’s ongoing commitment to showcasing its collections in exclusive and architecturally significant locations. The show is all set to take place on May 8, and the excitement is palpable, with the house’s women’s creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière, sharing the announcement on his Instagram account.

Designed by the legendary architect Eero Saarinen and opened in 1962, the TWA Flight Center is a masterpiece of mid-century modern design. Its distinctive wing-shaped shell roof and expansive windows make it a true symbol of American innovation and the golden age of air travel.

Nicolas Ghesquière’s decision to host the Louis Vuitton cruise show at the TWA Flight Center perfectly aligns with the brand’s tradition of presenting its collections in truly iconic settings. From the futuristic MAC Niteroi in Rio de Janeiro to Bob & Dolores Hope’s space-age residence in Palm Springs and the stunning Fondation Maeght on the French Riviera, Louis Vuitton always manages to find the perfect backdrop for its shows.

In a statement, Louis Vuitton expressed that the TWA Flight Center’s storied past as a hub of travel resonates with the brand’s ethos of architectural exploration and the celebration of the Art of Travel. The building’s illustrious history as a location for Hollywood films like ‘Catch Me If You Can’ only adds to its mystique and allure.

Following its closure in the early 2000s, the TWA Flight Center has undergone a transformation into the luxurious TWA Hotel. Scheduled to open its doors on May 15, the hotel will feature upscale retail spaces, a variety of bars, and restaurants, including the elegant Paris Café. Louis Vuitton’s cruise show will mark the inaugural public event at this newly renovated hotel, creating a fascinating blend of high fashion and architectural legacy.
