Louis Vuitton Releases New Tracking Accessory for Luggage

The news about Louis Vuitton’s new tracking accessory for its luggage range has been circulating since January of this year. The release of the LV Echo marks the brand’s response to the common fear of travelers losing their personal belongings, especially during international flights. With this innovative product, Louis Vuitton is capitalizing on the trend of connected objects that provide valuable services.

Priced at €250 and offering a battery life of six months, the tracker is now a part of the brand’s line of luggage accessories. Currently, it is compatible with three suitcase models, the Horizon 50, 55, and 70, designed by Marc Newson. Louis Vuitton assures travelers that with this connected luggage, they can travel with peace of mind. The process is simple: once the tracker is activated and placed in a dedicated pocket inside the suitcase, the traveler receives a notification through the LV Pass application, available on both the App Store and Google Play, upon landing. This notification provides information about the location of the luggage and whether it has reached its destination.

To create this accessory, Louis Vuitton collaborated with Sigfox, a telecommunications operator and IoT service provider based in Labège, France. The Echo tracker was first presented at the World IoT Expo in Prague in 2017 and utilizes the Monarch technology, which automatically adjusts to different international radio frequencies. Sigfox, pleased with the partnership, highlights its ability to position itself on an international network while using an efficient, cost-effective, and energy-efficient technology.

Louis Vuitton has already released a list of 120 airports that support the Monarch technology. These airports are located in various countries such as Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Oman, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tahiti, Taiwan, and the United States. In France, there are approximately ten airports, including Paris Orly, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Bordeaux/Mérignac, Marseille, and Lyon, that are capable of receiving Monarch.
