Louis Vuitton Introduces the LV Trainer Upcycling

This season, the renowned luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has introduced a greener version of their popular LV Trainer. Dubbed the LV Trainer Upcycling, this sneaker is a testament to the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Initially launched as part of the Spring/Summer 2019 collection, the LV Trainer quickly gained recognition in the world of luxury streetwear. However, as the LVMH group and its houses strive to prioritize sustainability, Louis Vuitton is taking a step forward by embracing eco-responsible practices with the release of this unique model.

The concept behind the LV Trainer Upcycling revolves around the reuse and valorization of existing materials. To create this sneaker, the Louis Vuitton team dug into their inventory of dormant stock, specifically the surplus materials generated by the first generation of LV Trainers over two years ago. This approach showcases the brand’s commitment to circularity and finding innovative ways to repurpose resources for new designs.

The development of the LV Trainer Upcycling was initiated internally by Louis Vuitton’s Marketing and Design departments in Paris and received approval from creative director Virgil Abloh. The shoe was then brought to life by the brand’s Shoe Manufacturing department in Fiesso d’Artico, Italy. The end result is a model that is not only more vibrant and colorful but also lower in height compared to the original design. The LV Trainer Upcycling made its debut during the immersive event called “Walk in the Park” in January.

It is important to highlight that the Louis Vuitton logo, along with the circular economy logo, can be found on the insole and back of the shoe, showcasing the brand’s dedication to environmental sustainability. This initiative is part of Louis Vuitton’s “Our Committed Journey” environmental plan, which aims to incorporate eco-design processes into all its creations by 2025.
