Loro Piana’s Commitment to Cashmere Luxury

Loro Piana’s commitment to showcasing the exquisite luxury of cashmere was recently brought to life in the mesmerizing documentary film ‘Cashmere – The Origin of a Secret’, directed by renowned filmmaker Luc Jacquet. Known for his impactful environmental work and his Academy Award-winning film ‘March of the Penguins’, Jacquet created the first installment of a trilogy that delves into the mastery of the Italian luxury house and their strong dedication to nature and the environment.

The film had its grand premiere at Shanghai’s MIFA 1862 Art Center, where attendees were transported on a visually stunning journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, the birthplaces of cashmere. Viewers can now enjoy the full documentary on Loro Piana’s website and anticipate its exclusive screenings worldwide.

‘Cashmere – The Origin of a Secret’ is a captivating exploration that pays homage to the Hircus goats – the primary source of cashmere fibers – and the devoted shepherds entrusted with their care. The long-standing partnership with Mongolian shepherd communities has been crucial to Loro Piana’s prosperity as a member of the esteemed LVMH group.

The premiere event in Shanghai welcomed local dignitaries, director Luc Jacquet, WWF global brand ambassador Li Bingbing, along with Loro Piana’s key figures including CEO Fabio d’Angelantonio and president Pier Luigi Loro Piana. An enchanting live orchestra performance of Cyrille Aufort’s original score accompanied the screening, adding to the magical atmosphere of the evening.

Moreover, the event featured the prestigious presentation of the ‘Loro Piana Cashmere of the Year Award’ to exceptional recipients Zhang Mingzhu, Li Yumei, Suyalatu, and Burenqiqige. Their combined efforts yielded an impressive 112.3 kg of cashmere, boasting a fiber diameter of 13.6 microns and a length of 28 mm – the finest cashmere collected from adult goats since the award’s inception.

This thought-provoking documentary not only celebrates the opulence and superior quality of cashmere but also shines a spotlight on the incredible skill and devotion of those involved in the meticulous production process. It is a must-see for individuals who hold a deep appreciation for luxury craftsmanship and sustainable practices.
