Longchamp Appoints Sophie Metzker as Global Chief Marketing and Communication Officer

Longchamp, the renowned French leather goods label, has recently named Sophie Metzker as its new global chief marketing and communication officer. Metzker brings a wealth of industry experience to the role, having previously served as the director of the Louis Vuitton flagship store on avenue Montaigne in Paris. She takes over from Marie-Laure Dubuisson Minnaert, who has moved on to head the Byredo fragrance brand, owned by the Puig group.

Metzker’s career in luxury goods marketing began in 1996 at L’Oréal, where she held the position of group product manager for consumer brands like L’Oréal Paris and Garnier. In 2005, she joined Giorgio Armani as head of international marketing, a position she held until 2009. Afterward, Metzker transitioned to the spirits industry, spending three years as the international vice-president of marketing and sales at Rémy Cointreau.

In 2012, Metzker joined the LVMH group as the global chief marketing and communication officer for Kenzo Fashion. Her success in this role led to her appointment as the director of the Louis Vuitton store at 22 avenue Montaigne in Paris in 2016. In that position, she oversaw a team of 90 employees and played a crucial role in maintaining the reputation and prestige of the renowned luxury brand.

Longchamp is a globally recognized brand with distribution through 1,500 stores worldwide, 300 of which are directly operated by the company. Although specific revenue figures are not disclosed by Longchamp, the brand has a strong presence in various regions. Approximately 24% of the label’s sales are generated in France, with an additional 29% in the rest of Europe. The Americas account for 14% of sales, while the Asia-Pacific region represents 33%.

Metzker’s appointment as chief marketing and communication officer at Longchamp is expected to further strengthen the brand’s position in the global luxury goods market. With her extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry, she is well-equipped to lead the marketing and communication strategies for Longchamp, driving growth and enhancing the brand’s image worldwide.
