London Fashion Week’s New Approach: Open to the Public

Starting from September 2019, London Fashion Week is undergoing a significant change in its format. The British Fashion Council has announced that the event will now include presentations that are open to the general public, making London the first among Paris, New York, and Milan to adopt this approach.

Dubbed as a “dynamic calendar,” the new London Fashion Week aims to cater to the ever-evolving fashion industry while also expanding its reach to new audiences. The event will feature a combination of professional appointments and activities that can be accessed by the public upon reservation, albeit with a fee.

From September 13th to 17th, 2019, fashion professionals such as press and buyers will attend the traditional runway shows and collection presentations. Alongside these, on September 14th and 15th, the general public will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the London Fashion Week Hub. This hub will host six designer runway shows, conferences, and a DiscoveryLAB, which serves as an experimental space where fashion intersects with art, technology, and music. Additionally, there will be a special exhibition dedicated to exploring fashion’s connection with environmental sustainability, diversity, ethical practices, and local craftsmanship, under the hashtag #PositiveFashion. Fashion retailers, institutions, designers, brands, and fashion houses are expected to participate in this hub, which, despite its slight deviation from the professional program, is officially integrated into Fashion Week.

Interested individuals can already purchase standard or front row tickets for the London Fashion Week Hub through the event’s official website.
