London Fashion Week Reschedules Shows and Cancels Events in Honor of Queen Elizabeth II

London Fashion Week is set to experience a significant reshuffling of its schedule following the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The British Fashion Council has advised fashion brands participating in the event to modify their show schedules in order to accommodate the Queen’s funeral, which has been scheduled for Monday, September 19th.

Due to the funeral coinciding with a public holiday, it is expected that most shops and businesses will voluntarily close their doors. This also includes fashion shows, which will be rearranged to coincide with the funeral proceedings. Renowned designers like Christopher Kane and Roksanda, along with several other brands, including Edeline Lee, Helen Anthony, Paul & Joe, and Dilara Findikoglu, had originally planned to showcase their collections on Monday.

In addition to rescheduling the shows, the British Fashion Council has recommended the cancellation of various evening events, parties, and celebrations that were planned throughout the entirety of London Fashion Week. This decision is a way to pay respect to the memory of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledge her deep-rooted connection to the fashion industry.

Queen Elizabeth II had shown her support for London Fashion Week in 2018 when she attended the event. During her visit, she presented Richard Quinn with the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. The Queen also took the time to explore the Designer Showrooms, where she engaged with the talented individuals behind the showcased labels and explored their collections.

In alignment with the guidance provided by the British Fashion Council, fashion brands are now making the necessary adjustments to their schedules. Organizers are working diligently to ensure a seamless transition and to honor the enduring legacy of Queen Elizabeth II. The industry as a whole has come together to navigate these unforeseen circumstances and show their respect for the Queen.
