London Fashion Week pays tribute to Vivienne Westwood

London Fashion Week, which is set to begin this coming Friday, will pay tribute to the late Vivienne Westwood. The British Fashion Council has chosen to honor Westwood’s remarkable legacy, acknowledging her immense contribution to the fashion industry and her ability to effect global change.

This year’s event will feature a vibrant and diverse lineup of 127 brands, combining both physical and digital activations. In total, there will be 104 physical events and 41 digital ones, showcasing the best of both worlds. The physical aspect of the week will include 47 catwalk shows, 18 presentations, two appointments, and 37 other exciting events.

There is great anticipation surrounding the debut of Burberry’s new creative director, Daniel Lee, as well as the public-facing show by Moncler Genius at Olympia. Renowned designers such as Christopher Kane, Erdem, JW Anderson, Molly Goddard, Roksanda, and Simone Rocha will also present their latest collections, offering a glimpse into their creative vision.

In addition to the well-established designers, London Fashion Week will also shine a spotlight on emerging talents. The BFC NEWGEN designers, known for their innovative designs, will have their collections showcased during the event. The DiscoveryLAB will also be a platform for promising up-and-coming designers who do not yet meet the main schedule criteria. This emphasis on nurturing and supporting new talent is a crucial aspect of London Fashion Week.

A significant event during the five-day extravaganza is the hosting of Ukrainian Fashion Week on Tuesday, February 21st. Three Ukrainian designers, Frolov, Kseniaschnaider, and Paskal, will showcase their collections in the NEWGEN space, adding an international flair to the event.

London Fashion Week is highly anticipated and eagerly awaited by fashion enthusiasts. This year’s dedication to Vivienne Westwood adds an extra layer of significance, as her groundbreaking designs and courageous approach to fashion continue to inspire and shape the industry. Westwood’s impact is undeniable, and London Fashion Week aims to celebrate her enduring legacy.
