London Fashion Week Highlights: New Collaborations, Saudi Designers, and Exciting Debuts

London Fashion Week is gearing up for an action-packed season filled with new collaborations, exciting debuts, and the inclusion of Saudi designers. With over 100 events on the schedule, the fashion extravaganza is set to impress even the most discerning fashionistas.

The official lineup includes 19 live events and eight parties scheduled for the opening Friday alone. Kicking off the Spring/Summer 2024 season is Irish veteran Paul Costelloe, followed by an array of talented designers such as Edward Crutchley, Bora Aksu, Mark Fast, and Ahluwalia. However, one of the most highly anticipated shows of the week is Fashion East, a joint show curated by fashion legend Louise Kennedy. Known for launching the careers of many successful designers, past alumni of Fashion East include renowned names like Kim Jones, Craig Green, Jonathan Anderson, and Gareth Pugh. This season, Fashion East is set to showcase the works of emerging talents like Johanna Parv, Standing Ground, and Karoline Vitto.

London Fashion Week isn’t just about runway shows. It’s also a hub of exciting parties and events. The British Fashion Council is teaming up with Syky, a virtual fashion platform, to host a Worlds Collide event. Syky has created a digital incubator for up-and-coming talent, and this collaboration promises to be a highlight of the week. In addition, celebrations by Browns for Suki Waterhouse and ES Magazine for Paco Rabanne are not to be missed. Ahluwalia and Sinead Gorey will also throw their own after-parties, while 10 magazine celebrates its 24th anniversary at Claridge’s. As if that wasn’t enough, the exhibition “The Missing Thread: Untold Stories of Black British Fashion” will also open during the week, drawing a significant crowd.

Some of the standout shows include Daniel Lee’s second collection at Burberry, which will take place in the enchanting Highbury Fields. JW Anderson, the critically acclaimed British designer, will also host the opening of “On Foot,” a dialogue with contemporary and iconic artists at Mayfair gallery Offer Waterman.

Editors and buyers attending London Fashion Week will be spoiled for choice with a wide range of shows to choose from. Designers such as Simone Rocha, Richard Quinn, Roksanda, and Molly Goddard are just some of the established names on the schedule. The event also welcomes newcomers this season, including Spencer Badu, Holzweiler, S. Joon, and Srvc, injecting fresh talent into the mix.

London’s reputation as a designer incubator will be further solidified this season with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Newgen. The exhibition “Rebel: 30 Years of London Fashion” will mark this milestone, sponsored by McQueen and co-curated by Sarah Mower. Newgen designers Feben, Chet Lo, S.S Daley, Conner Ives, Di Pesta, Sinéad O’Dwyer, and Yuhan Wang will also present their Spring/Summer 2024 collections, adding even more excitement to the event.

Adding an international flavor to London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Council and Film AlUla have invited the industry to view collections from Atelier Hekayat and ArAm Designs, two design houses based in Saudi Arabia making their first presentations at the event.

All in all, London Fashion Week promises to be an eventful and dynamic showcase of talent, creativity, and synergy. With a diverse lineup of established and emerging designers, as well as the inclusion of Saudi designers, fashion enthusiasts can’t wait to witness the unveiling of the latest Spring/Summer 2024 collections.
