London Designer Outlet (LDO) in Wembley Park had an exceptional Boxing Day last year, contributing to a total sales figure of £99 million for the entire year of 2023. The month of December itself saw impressive sales of £11.2 million, with a remarkable 11% increase in footfall on December 26th compared to the previous year. This surge in sales can be credited to consumers choosing to shop in-person rather than online. The triumph of LDO reflects the ongoing trend of premium and high-end off-price destinations surpassing other retail locations in terms of performance and success.
Consumers are now more willing to invest in quality products while still seeking out significant discounts. Not only did LDO experience overall success, but its individual tenants also witnessed remarkable sales growth during the festive period. Fourteen notable brands, including Calvin Klein, Moss, and Levi’s, achieved record-breaking sales on Boxing Day. The North Face and Tommy Hilfiger, following store upsizes and upgrades, saw noteworthy year-on-year sales increases of 34% and 30% respectively.
In light of these achievements, Matt Slade, the Retail Director at Quintain, the owner of LDO, lauded the mall’s allure and highlighted the appeal of premium brands at discounted prices. 2023 was undoubtedly an incredible year for LDO, illustrating the shifting consumer priorities towards quality shopping experiences at more affordable price points.
