Loewe Launches Collaboration with Studio Ghibli

Loewe, the Spanish fashion house, has recently launched its latest collaboration with Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli. Following the success of their previous collections inspired by the films “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Spirited Away,” Loewe’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, decided to take on the enchanting world of “Howl’s Moving Castle.” The iconic characters from the film are featured on a range of clothing, accessories, and bags.

To promote the collection, Loewe has organized various activations around the world. In London, they have taken over the massive 784m2 screen at Piccadilly Circus with a three-dimensional digital advertising campaign. Additionally, they have installed a giant inflatable castle near Marble Arch, which creates a unique and eye-catching display. This installation follows a similar one unveiled in Paris in January.

As part of the collection launch, Loewe has partnered with the renowned department store Selfridges for a major event. Visitors can explore a pop-up space showcasing the capsule collection and enjoy an exhibition of original illustrations by Hayao Miyazaki, the creator of Studio Ghibli. The cinema within the store is also screening the film “Howl’s Moving Castle” for an added interactive experience.

A highlight of the event is the collaboration with the French studio Balbosté, which offers culinary creations inspired by the film. Guests can indulge in visually appealing sandwiches, vermicelli cakes, blue jelly, macarons, and pretzels, all reflecting the world of “Howl’s Moving Castle.” Signature cocktails and a selection of teas are also available to complement the culinary experience.

It is important to note that Loewe, through its foundation, is a patron of the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. By signing a three-year sponsorship agreement at the end of 2021, Loewe aims to support the museum’s cultural programming, which has been affected by the pandemic and the decrease in tourist flows.

Loewe’s collaboration with Studio Ghibli continues to captivate audiences with its enchanting designs and creative activations. With each collection, the fashion house brings the magical worlds of Miyazaki’s films to life, providing a unique and immersive experience for fans of both fashion and animation.
