The watch in question is the Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph, which is being unveiled today. However, the most eye-catching feature of all is the flying “hacking” minute tourbillon located at 6 o’clock. Not only does it serve as a visual focal point, but it also contributes to the watch’s accuracy by minimizing the impact of gravity on its mechanical elements. Developed by IWC, the innovative Diamond Shell technology reduces friction and ensures precise timekeeping.
This collaboration marks Hamilton’s third special edition design for IWC since 2014. His previous creations include the titanium Ingenieur Chronograph Edition Lewis Hamilton and the black ceramic Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Lewis Hamilton.” The Portugieser is a testament to the timeless elegance and iconic status of this particular model, which originally debuted in the late 1930s. Limited to just 44 pieces, a reference to Hamilton’s F1 racing number, this watch is expected to sell out quickly.
