Leadership Transitions within LVMH Group’s Houses

The last quarter of 2019 is seeing significant changes within the LVMH Group’s Houses, as major announcements have been made regarding leadership transitions. One notable change is the appointment of Véronique Courtois as the CEO of Guerlain, a return to her roots after previously holding strategic positions within the Marketing Department of the House for about ten years. Courtois then went on to join Christian Dior Couture in 2010 as Marketing Director and later became the General Manager of Parfums Christian Dior.

Courtois’ new role will require her to continue developing the performance of Guerlain, which played a significant role in contributing to the 9% growth achieved by LVMH’s Perfumes and Cosmetics Division during the first semester of 2019. To further enhance the brand’s success, Guerlain is currently focusing on optimizing its supply chain to reduce product time-to-market.

In addition to her appointment at Guerlain, Courtois will also be transitioning to another significant role within the LVMH Group. On November 1st, she will be taking over as the CEO of Hennessy, replacing Laurent Boillot. Boillot, in turn, will assume leadership of the Hennessy cognac House at the beginning of 2020, following a transitional period alongside current President Bernard Peillon, who is planning to retire next summer.

These changes come as the LVMH Group recently reported “excellent” performance across all its activities during the first semester of 2019, noting an estimated growth of over 25 billion euros. The Wines and Spirits Division specifically experienced a 6% increase in sales during the same period, driven by strong demand from the United States and Asia, as well as a growing interest in prestigious vintages.
