Laura Ashley to Close Down All Stores in Australia

Due to the inability to find a buyer, Laura Ashley has made the difficult decision to close down all of its remaining stores in Australia by the end of the year. This decision comes after the Australian arm of the renowned fashion and furniture brand was placed into administration earlier this month.

Despite efforts from administrators to secure a buyer, a deal could not be reached, leaving no viable option for the continuation of operations in Australia. With the closure of its Australian stores, Laura Ashley is now focused on executing an “orderly closure” of its remaining 16 locations within the next two weeks.

Customers are encouraged to make the most of special promotions and clearance sales as the stores prepare to shut down. Approximately 100 employees will be affected by the closure, marking the end of an era for the brand in Australia.

Although the Australian arm of Laura Ashley is facing closure, the brand’s operations in the UK remain unaffected by the administration. However, Laura Ashley UK has announced plans to close down 40 stores in the UK as part of a broader strategy to expand its presence in Asia.

With a rich history spanning over 35 years in Australia, Laura Ashley has left a lasting legacy in the fashion and furniture industry. The closure of its Australian stores signifies the end of a chapter for the iconic brand in the country.
