Last-Minute Christmas Shopping Still Strong

As the Christmas countdown continues, it appears that there are still many people who have yet to complete their holiday shopping. A recent study conducted by The Green Insurer reveals that nearly 19% of adults in the UK are planning to do some last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve. This statistic is great news for retailers, as it indicates that there is still a significant portion of consumers who have not finished their shopping.

It is interesting to note that only 25% of consumers are expected to have their Christmas shopping completed by December 18th. For those who have left their shopping until the last minute, they may have to rely on physical stores due to potential delivery delays. However, the survey found that 93% of adults surveyed still intended to do some of their Christmas shopping online. In fact, 38% of respondents stated that more than half of their purchases would be made digitally this year.

Despite the popularity of online shopping, physical retailers should not panic. Approximately two-thirds of consumers still plan on visiting physical stores such as high streets, shopping centers, and retail parks for their last-minute purchases. This is a positive indication for brick-and-mortar stores, highlighting that even with the rise of online shopping, many people still enjoy the experience of browsing in physical stores.

Paul Baxter, CEO of The Green Insurer, believes that last-minute Christmas shopping on the high street is still very much alive. He points out that millions of people are expected to spend time in shops on Christmas Eve, and the fact that many consumers wait until the last minute to complete their shopping demonstrates that the digital world has not completely taken over the holiday season.

In conclusion, there is still a significant portion of shoppers who have not yet finished their Christmas shopping. While online shopping is popular, many people still depend on physical stores for their last-minute purchases. This is encouraging news for physical retailers, as they can anticipate an increase in foot traffic in the upcoming days. As the countdown to Christmas continues, there are still plenty of opportunities for retailers to take advantage of the festive shopping frenzy.
