Lanvin has wasted no time in appointing its new artistic director, Olivier Lapidus, following the departure of Bouchra Jarrar. The French haute couture brand has chosen a designer with experience to lead the way. At 59 years old, Lapidus has recently shown interest in the digital world, even launching his own fashion house exclusively online. With a focus on transparency and made-to-measure products, Lapidus’ digital ideas could potentially benefit Lanvin.
Lanvin has been struggling in the luxury market in recent years, facing a decline in sales. In the first quarter of 2017 alone, the brand experienced a 32% decrease, following a 23% decrease in 2016. With this appointment, Lanvin hopes to revive its reputation and attract fans once again. Lapidus will showcase his first collection for Lanvin, a women’s ready-to-wear collection for Summer 2018.
In a statement, Lapidus expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to join Lanvin and thanked Madame Wang for her trust. As a pioneer in high-tech fashion, Lapidus is expected to bring a fresh perspective and transform the image of Lanvin’s products.
