Landsec Unveils New Retail Strategy

Landsec, a prominent player in the retail industry, has unveiled a new retail strategy aimed at driving its business forward by adopting a “customer-centric approach.” The company recognizes the need to strengthen its relationships with brand partners and enhance its retail destinations. In light of the significant changes brought about by the pandemic and the growing popularity of e-commerce, Landsec has faced challenges with tenants struggling to pay rent, leading to store closures and vacancies. Moreover, demands for turnover-based rents have had an impact on the wider property sector, necessitating the need for Landsec to adapt its strategies to the current market conditions.

To address these challenges, Landsec has introduced a new structure that focuses on brand management, channel management, and guest experience. By utilizing innovative technology and data-driven insights, Landsec aims to gain a deeper understanding of the guest experience. This knowledge will enable the company to effectively support its brand partners throughout their relationship with Landsec.

The brand account management team will serve as a dedicated point of contact for brand partners, using their extensive sector knowledge to secure strategically relevant spaces in prime locations within Landsec’s retail portfolio. Channel management will concentrate on the strategic planning for each asset, encompassing the vision for placemaking and performance. Lastly, the guest experiences team will be responsible for creating enhanced shopper environments through events and activations that drive footfall to Landsec’s retail destinations.

In addition to the introduction of its new strategy, Landsec has appointed Nik Porter as the Head of Retail Brand Account Management, further bolstering the company’s in-house retail expertise. This appointment follows the earlier hiring of Bruce Findlay as Managing Director, Retail. Porter brings with him valuable experience from his previous roles at 7 For All Mankind, All Saints, and Hackett London.

The customer-centric approach and restructuring of Landsec’s retail operations demonstrate the company’s commitment to adapting to the ever-evolving retail landscape. By forging closer relationships with brand partners and prioritizing unique and immersive guest experiences, Landsec aims to position itself at the forefront of the retail industry. With the right strategies in place and a strong team in leadership roles, Landsec is well-equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
