Kurt Geiger Unveils Flagship Store on Oxford Street

Kurt Geiger, the renowned footwear retailer, has recently unveiled its flagship store on London’s famous Oxford Street. The store, located at number 272-274, covers an impressive 2,916 square feet and occupies a prominent corner position next to retailer John Lewis. Designed by architect Stefano Ripoli, the store perfectly captures the creative vision of Kurt Geiger’s brand chief officer, Rebecca Farrar-Hockley.

One of the standout features of the store’s design is the use of the brand’s signature rainbow colors. These vibrant hues can be found adorning a variety of footwear, including sandals, slides, trainers, and heeled pumps, as well as bags and accessories. The store’s atmosphere is further enhanced by the inclusion of rainbow-toned glass, reminiscent of traditional stained glass, adding a contemporary touch. This complements the millefiori-style floral wall, antique brass furnishings, and striking turquoise and floral upholstery. The store’s existing concrete walls, pillars, and ceiling provide a contrasting backdrop.

The flagship store serves as a visual representation of Kurt Geiger’s brand story and showcases the complete range of their women’s, men’s, and accessories collections. This strategic move aligns with the company’s plans for international expansion, following the recent acquisition of a new funding package. Kurt Geiger, which is owned by private equity firm Cinven, currently operates over 70 standalone stores and more than 100 concessions. With a strong foothold in Europe and the US, CEO Neil Clifford envisions the international business becoming as successful as their UK operations.

Kurt Geiger’s growth has been remarkable, with a 22% increase in turnover to over £234 million in the previous fiscal year. The company also achieved a net profit of £7.3 million. This commitment to expanding globally while maintaining a strong presence in the UK market showcases their ambition and success.

The opening of Kurt Geiger’s flagship store on Oxford Street is a clear testament to the brand’s ability to thrive in a challenging retail landscape. By creating a visually stunning space that fully embodies the essence of the Kurt Geiger brand, the store aims to attract both loyal customers and new shoppers. With a continued focus on international growth and a dedication to delivering high-quality footwear and accessories, Kurt Geiger solidifies its position as a leading fashion retailer.
