Kim Jones to Unveil Dior’s Pre-Fall 2021 Collection in Beijing

Kim Jones, the visionary creative mind behind Dior’s menswear, is preparing to showcase his upcoming collection for the house’s pre-fall 2021 line. Set to unveil on December 8th, the highly anticipated event will take place in an online format as well as in an exclusive Beijing setting. This unveiling marks the next chapter in Jones’ innovative approach to fashion, following his successful presentations in Tokyo and Miami for Dior’s pre-fall menswear collections.

In Tokyo, the stage was set for a groundbreaking display back in November 2018, as Jones presented Dior’s inaugural pre-fall runway show. The runway was adorned with a captivating 12-meter-high robot warrior lady sculpture designed by the renowned artist Hajime Sorayama. The star-studded event drew in a crowd of around 1,000 guests, with A-list celebrities such as Kate Moss, David Beckham, and Bella Hadid gracing the front row with their presence. Continuing his global journey, Jones then shifted gears to Miami in December 2019, where he orchestrated a grand show opposite the Rubell Museum. This spectacle incorporated stunning artworks by Shawn Stussy and featured a live concert by the talented musician Orville Peck. Additionally, Jones thrilled sneakerheads with a collaboration with Air Jordan, introducing new high-top sneakers that seamlessly blended elements of Dior’s iconic designs.

Despite the current constraints on travel plans, Dior has decided against hosting a physical runway show in Beijing. Instead, the fashion house intends to treat attendees to an exclusive event in the heart of the Chinese capital, coinciding with the online debut of the collection. Channelling the spirit of Monsieur Dior himself, who had a penchant for collaborating with legendary artists, Jones continues to push the boundaries with his artistic vision and creative set designs.

While details on the upcoming Beijing event remain a mystery, Jones’ previous collection featured a notable collaboration with the talented Ghanaian artist, Amoako Boafo. The online presentation saw Jones’ intimate group of friends modeling the pieces in his personal studio, adding a unique touch to the overall experience. Fashion enthusiasts eagerly await the latest revelations from Kim Jones’ artistic journey at Dior.
