Kering Strengthens Digital Capabilities with Appointment of Yonca Dervisoglu to Board

Kering, the French luxury conglomerate, is strengthening its digital capabilities with the appointment of Yonca Dervisoglu to its board of directors. As the vice president of marketing for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Google, Dervisoglu brings a wealth of knowledge in new technologies, digital trends, and marketing strategies.

Dervisoglu’s impressive career at Google spans over 15 years, during which she has managed teams across 35 countries. Her contributions to the company include co-founding Google Arts and Culture and the successful growth initiative, Grow with Google. Prior to her tenure at Google, Dervisoglu held senior marketing positions at Unilever and Yahoo.

In addition to her role at Google, Dervisoglu has been involved in various prominent organizations. She is a fellow of The Marketing Society and has served on the supervisory boards of Heineken and Mavi, as well as the digital advisory board of the Natural History Museum in London.

During Kering’s recent annual general meeting, company chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault outlined the company’s focus on exploring the potential of the metaverse and digital technologies. Pinault revealed that the Kering team will be visiting Silicon Valley in the coming weeks to engage with executives and further delve into the possibilities of the metaverse, including the potential for virtual product sales.

Pinault also expressed Kering’s interest in developing original digital products that are unrelated to their physical merchandise and enabling customers to make online payments using cryptocurrencies. To lead these groundbreaking initiatives, Kering has entrusted Grégory Boutté, the company’s client and digital officer.

Kering’s commitment to digital transformation is demonstrated not only through Dervisoglu’s appointment but also through their partnerships with tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, and Facebook. These strategic alliances further solidify Kering’s position at the forefront of digital advancements in the luxury industry.

In addition to the appointment of Dervisoglu, Kering’s AGM approved the nominations of Véronique Weill and Serge Weinberg to the board, and extended the term of independent director Daniela Riccardi.

With Dervisoglu’s extensive experience and expertise, her addition to Kering’s board will undoubtedly contribute valuable insights and guidance as the company navigates the ever-evolving digital landscape.
