Kering, the luxury group known for brands like Gucci and Saint Laurent, is extending its commitment to supporting healthcare efforts amidst the ongoing Covid-19 epidemic. After previously offering financial and material aid to hospitals in France, Italy, and China, the company is now partnering with the CDC Foundation in the United States.
The CDC Foundation, an independent non-profit organization established by the United States Congress, aims to expand the missions of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through public-private partnerships. Through this collaboration, Kering and its various brands are donating one million dollars. This generous contribution will specifically go towards funding protective equipment and supplies for healthcare workers in the hardest-hit states in the U.S., including New York, New Jersey, California, Florida, and certain regions in Latin America.
In addition to this donation, Kering is also showing support for other initiatives within the fashion industry. One such initiative is “A Common Thread,” which was launched by the CondéNast group in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) under the leadership of designer Tom Ford. Originally created to assist young talents in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund will now be utilized, along with external contributions, to aid industry professionals who have been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States.
This latest move by Kering demonstrates its commitment to not only supporting healthcare workers on the frontline but also to assisting the broader fashion community during these challenging times.
