Kering, the luxury group, has reported a significant increase in sales for the first nine months of its 2021 fiscal year compared to the same period in 2019. Building on this momentum, Kering aims to strengthen its presence and support its growth in the strategic Chinese market with the introduction of the “China Retail Excellence Management Trainee Program.” The program is designed to meet the growing demand for luxury products in China, particularly as experts predict that by 2025, 50% of Chinese consumers will make their luxury purchases within the country.
The COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated this trend, as the freeze on international travel has led to a repatriation of luxury purchases. To seize this opportunity, Kering plans to recruit young talents through the China Retail Excellence Management Trainee Program. This intensive training program, lasting 21 months, will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the retail industry, including store operations, management, and customer engagement. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to rotate across various prestigious fashion and watchmaking/jewelry houses within the Kering group, such as Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Boucheron, Pomellato, and Qeelin.
Kering emphasizes the importance of proficiency in English and the willingness to work outside of major Chinese cities as prerequisites for participation in the program. This requirement reflects the group’s ambition to establish a strong network of touchpoints throughout the country, catering to the diverse needs and preferences of Chinese consumers.
The promotional campaign for the 2022 China Retail Excellence Management Trainee Program has already commenced, with activities including a livestreamed Q&A session on the popular social networking platform, WeChat.
