Kering Expands Operations with Cutting-Edge Distribution Center in the United States

Kering, a renowned luxury conglomerate boasting prestigious brands such as Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, is taking bold steps to expand and streamline its operations on a global scale. Having recently shifted a substantial portion of its European logistics operations from Switzerland to Italy, the company is now focusing its attention on the United States with the construction of a cutting-edge distribution center.

Previously located in Secaucus, New Jersey, Kering’s American headquarters is undergoing a major upgrade as it prepares to relocate to a state-of-the-art facility in Wayne in 2020. This new hub is set to become the group’s flagship relay point in the Americas, demonstrating Kering’s commitment to elevating operational efficiency and customer service standards across the region.

The upcoming Wayne facility will boast an expansive 80,000-square-foot office space, a sprawling 770,000-square-foot distribution center, and a 17,500-square-foot repair center. Emphasizing its dedication to sustainability, Kering intends to pursue LEED Gold certification for the site, ensuring that it meets high environmental standards and energy efficiency criteria.

The decision to overhaul its logistics infrastructure follows Kering’s strong performance in the first quarter of 2019, with revenues hitting a remarkable 3.7 billion euros ($4.2 billion) and a growth rate of 17.5%. This success underscores the effectiveness of the company’s strategic endeavors and its investments in key markets worldwide.

In the wake of a recent agreement with Italian tax authorities, where Kering committed to paying 1.25 billion euros ($1.41 billion) to settle outstanding tax liabilities, the luxury group has undergone significant transformations internally and externally. By transitioning operations to Italy and focusing on the establishment of its new American logistics hub, Kering is charting a course towards a more agile and efficient operating model in the global luxury sector.

Through its strategic investments in the United States, Asia, and Italy, Kering is solidifying its position as a dominant player in the luxury market on a global scale. The impending launch of the American operations center in Wayne signifies a pivotal moment in the company’s growth trajectory, highlighting its steadfast dedication to innovation and sustainability within the fashion industry.
