JW Anderson x Gilbert & George Collaboration

JW Anderson, a pioneer in avant-garde collaborations, has embarked on a significant partnership with the legendary British art duo Gilbert & George. This exciting collaboration encompasses a range of elements, including a brand-new capsule collection, an exclusive exhibition, a captivating book, and an enduring connection for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2019 season.

Jonathan Anderson, the brilliant creative force behind JW Anderson, spoke passionately about the influence of Gilbert & George, hailing them as “the ultimate British Modernists.” He commended their ability to blend anarchy and order in their artworks, a characteristic that mirrors JW Anderson’s ethos of merging British eccentricities with traditional aesthetics.

The recently launched capsule collection made its debut on matchesfashion.com, showcasing Gilbert & George’s unique perspective on masculinity and British contemporary culture. Drawing inspiration from key works such as Guard Plants (1980), Dog Boy (1980), and Heavy (1988), the collection features a stunning array of leather biker jackets, latex tees, Breton striped shirts, shorts, cotton tunics, tees, sweats, and oversized bags adorned with prints of the iconic artworks.

In honor of this innovative collaboration, a special publication entitled ‘The Pleasure Book for Boys with JW Anderson and Gilbert & George’ is set to be released. This exclusive book, curated with striking photography by Alasdair McLellan and styled by Benjamin Bruno, includes a compelling interview with the artists conducted by Jo-Ann Furniss. Fans can get their hands on this collector’s item starting December 19 via the JW Anderson website.

Alongside the capsule collection and book release, an exhibition at JW Anderson’s flagship London store at 5 Carlos Place will feature a mesmerizing Gilbert & George-inspired display for two weeks. Following its exclusive launch, the collection will be available for purchase on JWAnderson.com from December 10, granting wider access to individuals eager to immerse themselves in this innovative fusion of art and fashion.

This collaboration not only highlights the artistic brilliance of Gilbert & George but also underscores JW Anderson’s dedication to breaking boundaries and venturing into new creative territories. It presents a fresh perspective on the convergence of art and fashion, providing a distinct and unparalleled experience for enthusiasts of both realms.
