Jimmy Choo Teams Up with The RealReal for Resale Options

Jimmy Choo, the luxury accessories brand, is breaking new ground by teaming up with luxury consignment retailer The RealReal to offer resale options to its customers. The partnership, called ‘A Circular Partnership’, will launch on October 6 and will allow Jimmy Choo clients to easily sell their pre-loved luxury items through The RealReal. Clients can submit their items for consignment on either Jimmy Choo’s website or The RealReal’s website, and The RealReal will handle the authentication, pricing, and listing process.

The announcement was made by Jimmy Choo CEO Hannah Colman on National Consignment Day, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to the circular economy. Colman emphasized, “Our partnership with The RealReal reinforces our commitment to the circular economy in addition to our established repair service. The partnership allows us to champion resale by offering our clients an opportunity to give their luxury items a second life. This partnership ties back to the goals we are committed to in our sustainability manifesto.”

The collaboration between Jimmy Choo and The RealReal aims to raise awareness and promote the adoption of the circular economy. Along with offering resale options, the partnership seeks to deepen the relationship between customers and the brand. First-time consignors will be invited to book an in-store or virtual one-to-one VIP styling session with a member of the Jimmy Choo styling team. This personalized experience enhances the customer’s connection with the brand and encourages their participation in the circular economy.

Allison Sommer, Vice President of Public Affairs and Business Development at The RealReal, emphasizes the importance of circularity in addressing the fashion waste crisis. She states, “We know that recirculating just 1 in 5 items would help put fashion on track to achieve the 1.5-degree pathway laid out by the Paris Climate Accord, but the biggest hindrance to circularity is awareness. This partnership with Jimmy Choo raises circularity awareness by offering luxury consignment services to their sizable loyal customer base, reinforcing the company’s environmental commitments. We’re honored to be joining forces and generating tremendous impact with such a globally distinguished fashion house.”

This partnership is not The RealReal’s first collaboration with a luxury brand. They have previously partnered with Gucci, Burberry, and Stella McCartney for official resale partnerships. The RealReal has also launched the ‘ReCollection’ project, featuring designers such as A-Cold-Wall, Balenciaga, Dries Van Noten, Jacquemus, Simone Rocha, Stella McCartney, Ulla Johnson, and Zero + Maria Cornejo.

The partnership between Jimmy Choo and The RealReal represents an important stride in the fashion industry’s sustainability and circularity journey. By offering resale options to its clients, Jimmy Choo reaffirms its commitment to an environmentally friendly approach. With the support of The RealReal, this collaboration is expected to have a significant impact and educate consumers about the benefits of the circular economy. As more luxury brands team up with resale platforms, the fashion industry moves closer to achieving its sustainability goals.
